A REAL STORY

from a real parent

Hello,

I highly recommend Abilene Kugler as a tutor for middle school children. She is one of the best tutors that we hired on a long-term basis that created a total educational enjoyment breakthrough with my son.

We hired Abilene during COVID-19 lockdown because we noticed that my son’s interest in school quickly deteriorated due to the remote learning situation. It was easy to spot that he is the type of person that does well with hands-on, immersive learning environments. Online answer repetition does not work. Both my husband and I work full time, so we could not afford to change our jobs to accommodate the multi-hour attention that online learning requires.

So we hired Abilene.

She came in weekly and worked with our son and helped bridge the comprehension and lesson behind what was being taught online. Our school system was a mess and the hubris and material was quickly adapted to this new delivery approach - so there was truly nothing prepared or no way to anticipate what was going to be taught. But that didn’t stop Abilene from adeptly figuring out what the teacher was doing over the year, and creating supportive educational side projects that help my son learn the lesson and the meaning of the work, and most importantly stay engaged with school and take pride in his work. This was a pivotal time (age) in our child’s development, and if he had a distaste for learning and education in general - it would set him up to fail in the future, especially in high school and college.

Abilene’s personality is very trustworthy and uplifting. She has a ton of talents, like music, singing, writing in addition to being very smart. She applies her talents and knowledge in a way that is fun and engaging for the kids. I knew we found a long-term partner in my son’s education when he would run to the door when she would come over for the sessions.

It was sad to say goodbye at the end of the school year after the remote learning concluded, but Abilene will always have a special place in our family and we strongly recommend her to anyone considering outside support for their children’s education.
